seat back removal

OK, I am stumped again. I need to remove the plastic cover on the rear of the front seat. I want to get to the head restraint adjusting rail. The two screws at the bottom are removed but nothing seems to give. I don't want to force anything and break it. Any trick to get this off?

There's no real good way. It takes some force and some guts to get it apart, especially for the first time. You think you'll break it, but it'll come apart eventually. Try working from one of the bottom corners.

Separate at the seam or pull out toward the rear?

Pull back cover toward the rear. You may need to get it started with a screwdriver. The cross section of this joint is a complicated "S" pattern that I can't recall from memory.

OK it's off and nothing broke. After I got it started I could see that the back panel has to stay and the side material stretches toward the rear releasing the interlock. The problem with my headrest is, the gear assembly is missing. The previous owner must have removed it. Thanks again,
