18" wheels
18" is too big for the model car mentioned. The expensive ultra-low profile tires needed to go plus 3 would wear out in less than 15k miles and reveal every pebble and depression in the road. If you mount such weels on a stock suspension 124, it would be counter productive. Mercedes made the car to be a luxury vehicle with a comfortable ride. If you want better handling you might consider first replacing the front and rear sway bars with the ones from a Mercedes 400E (V8) and replacing the springs with H&R or Eibach, and the shocks with Bilstein Sports. Then when you mount 17" wheels the gap between the body and the tire won't be huge. The ride will be very different from the comfortable one you have now. When Mercedes decided to tighten things up with later model 124, they went with 16" wheels and used different springs and bars. P.
