door speakers

Can somebody tell me what type of speaker is in the lower front door panels of a 94-95 E320 with the factory bose stereo? Are there any direct replacements for this speaker? Thanks!

Also the deck and rear deck sizes as well. I want to fit the maximum sizes in there.

You can fit a 6.5" mid/woofer in those front Pods in the doors no problem

in the rear it is a metric size, however you can fit a 5.25" mid/woofer or coax in the factory location

I am currently doing a system in my 300e similar

in the rear I am installing Diamond Audio 5.25" coaxials with seperate crossovers.

In the front I am installing Diamond Audio 4" midranges in the stock locations, Diamond Audio tweeters molded into the pillars and Diamond audio 6.5" Hex woofers in the factory door locations.

Overall it will be a very stock look..

Single 12" dual voice coil subwoofer in the trunk.

The front system will be biamped (100w x 2 going to the 4" and tweeter) and an additional 100W x 2 going to the 6.5" woofers) the Rear 5.25" coaxials will be driven with an additional 50W x 2 amplifier and the subwoofer is driven by a single 500W monoblock subwoofer amp.

I will post photos once it starts, right now fitting the bumpers and skirts then off to paint..

i have 6 1/2" in the doors. they are components, and i put the tweeters for them where the dash speakers go. the door speakers needed a little trimming here and there if i remember correctly, but nothing major.
the rears are 5 1/4". they didn't fit easily so some messing about was needed, but they do the job.

Thanks for the info guys...this is very useful to all on this board and your systems sounds like it will be a nice benchmark for those who want to retain the factory speaker locations. How do you get to the door speakers? Do you have to remove the entire door panel or does the grille come off separately? Thanks again!
