Headlight Switch

The old headlamp switch disintigrated internally and I lost the low beams (all the other switch functions still worked), so I emailed some salvage yards, got a bite (locally!), and installed the 'new' switch. Still no low beams. Also no rear fog light. Also no left-only/right-only park lights.

All the fuses look fine.

Could the low beam fillaments have fried when the old switch finally went to pieces? If I need new bulbs I'd rather upgrade to HID.

Are there different headlamp switch variations for these cars? It plugged right up, although I noticed that the metal casting for part of the switch was slightly different.

My car is a '95 E320 Wagon.

To verify, I understand you replaced the dash switch. I mention that because the turn signal stalk controls the high/low beams. The stalk could be set on high beams.

Another thing to check is the lamps themselves that light up for the fog lamps and park lamps. They are specific for the function.

In retrospect I wouldn't have bought a salvage headlight switch. They are sold new and are not that expensive ($57).

Holy crap I didn't pay much less than that for my used switch! I ASSumed that it was a $100+ switch.

95 e320...sold the rest
Yeah, they shouldn't be much more than 65$ for a brand new switch.
