Whitest bulbs?

I pulled up next to a lowered 300E tonight with some Euro lights and my Silverstars looked yellow in comparison!

I gotta get me a set. What are the whitest bulbs available that would make mine like his?

This has been discussed at length, a search of this forum will net my previous posts on the topic.

I use these

The Mtec's blow the Silverstars away IMO

They seem very reasonable for their price! They should work perfectly in my DEPO euro lights, correct?

No HID lights in my euros! I also can't stand looking behind me and getting blinded by someone with this setup.

What about wattage or whatever? No chance I'll burn my housing or anything with these? I don't know a whole lot about bulbs. Should be plug n play right?

Good enough for me. Just bought a set Will let you know how it compares to my silverstars. I'll probably swap one bulb and take a picture.

I think that was totally worth it. Left = mtec, Right = silverstar. Silverstars definitely look more yellow no doubt.

Glad your happy with your decision, hopefully you bought standard wattage bulbs, the higher wattage bulbs are brighter, but you run the risk of burning up your sockets and wiring, plus, relays are needed to provide the necessary voltage.

I believe the OEM wattage of a W124 is 45low 55 High, be careful if you are running 60 low, ps2cho.

As for the high wattage, you won't damage the housing, just the plugs/wiring as Mr. 2Phast mentioned.

It states 60/55W on the box.
You think I will okay, or will the plugs+Wiring be a problem? Solution?

Meh, you melt a plug or two every couple of years = not a huge deal...just keep your eye on them, that's all...

Okay...I'll leave em and see what happens. If they burn out anytime soon then I'll replace and go from there....

Where could I find the replacement plugs if they burn out? I have DEPO headlights so not sure if that makes any difference.

wow, those bulbs look good!
i think you should be okay on the wiring harnesses etc., the high and low beams both use the same gauge wiring, so running a ~high beam bulb wattage in the low beams will be okay. i used to run modded high beam bulbs in my low beams on my legend with no issues. when you start hitting 70-80W is when you'll definitely have issues...

That photo really tells the tale...good shot. It is not a close comparison. There's just as much difference in real world usage.

I am also using the 60/55.

The owners manual states that the proper wattage is 60 high 55 low and 55 for the fog lamps. You'll be fine.

MTEC Lights

ps2cho,

So let me get this straight....

You put the MTEC Super White Xenon HID lights (the link 2PHAST provided) in your Depo Euros and got that result? I have a 1989 300E with Depot Euros and am thinking about doing the same thing! Looks good!

Did you do anything with the fog lights?

yea, big dog, that is what he is saying.

I am also running Depots and that is the kind of improvement you can expect.

Want a special deal on a set of Silverstars?
