W140 hood swap?

So Ive searched and to no avail. I am curious as to the process of swapping an s class hood onto our cars (mine being a 300ce) any info?
heres an example...

pic shows an SL style hood.

most here would say they are tacky.

if the fit is good and is done tastefully, then there is a chance it would look good.
but most SL style hoods end up looking tacky because they arent done with the headlights having been considered. so they "stick out." you'd have to see one from the side to kinda understand what i'm talking about.

most, if they choose to go with a change, would rather go with the updated look from the 94- 95 models.

although, now that i think about it, i have yet to see someone use the SL style hood with actual SL (R129) lights. that one could actually work.

what year is your car?
Why not an E hood and a 600 grill.

Nope, that's most certainly not an sl style hood. W140...and I actually like it...

to me it looks like an SL style hood, heavily modified to have the normal grill appearance, probably from a 140 (the cutoff headlamps give it away.) to make it look right.

its better executed than most, but id have to see it from the side and other angles to form an objective opinion.

Probably would be easier to use the 124 face lift hood and modifying the sheet metal to accept the pictured grille...

yeah, that's what it looked like to me... like they blended the W140 front/grille with the 124 hood...

edit: let me not lie, i had no idea whether the pic really looked like an SL or 140 until you and zorro said those things, but what i meant to say was i agree with you guys

i can what you mean.
fitment wise the SL hood is easier as they are much closer to each other size wise.

but i suppose one could narrow and shorten the 140 hood and shorten the grille a little. just a lot more work, like raising the trailing edge of the hood etc.

but results in a more OE look if thats what happened here

It looks like it became Jewish....

Sorry to those who are Jewish and don't truly mean to be offensive. but it looks like it just has a giant schnoz and doesn't look good at all IMO.

The only things I approve of on W124s that are aftermarket are factory AMGs or period-correct Lorinser wheels, original AMG kits, Euro head lights...etc...anything OEM and period-correct.

Anything else I find extremely distasteful since W124 4-doors (minus the 500) look kinda stodgy.

Just my $.02 though.

I hope I'm not the only one who's like this. But I think all these cars look best either stock, or with AMG OEM equip for the most part.

Wow...that was a rather off colour comment. I'd edit that, newbie.

the original picture shows a wide-body one-off goeckel made for shows back in the day a bit. it's an amg kit with a w124 94-95 hood, and wideeee fenders unless i'm completely mistaken, which happens on more than a few occasions.

that can't be a 94-95 hood, the grille is so wide that the inner fogs are almost completely obscured... i think zorro was spot on with the 140 thing and the wider grille

He's from NJ.... People who like OEM everything should never reply in a thread about modding because we all know what they are gonna say. It's really a waste of time for them. I've dealt with this for years over mustangs and how classic mustangs should look. Old farts telling me what i should do to my cars and blah blah blah...

Anyways.....Moving on...
I think it looks good but only because of the wide body. With time and money anyone can make another hood like that. Take the skin off a s class, cut it to size, and weld it on a w124 hood.

Got a problem with people from NJ? Are we all a certain way that I am not aware of? Please, do educate me.

No, I just like to make generalized statements like those. Sorry that I'm entitled to my own opinion as well as expressing it.

While we are on the subject of stereotypes, I think Scion TC owners should have their tires slashed and have their driver license taken away.

Ok, end of rant..

I like it at that angle, those flares, lowered, etc. It may not look as good from other angles though.

Not a direct swap like later hoods unless someone makes a kit for it. Almost anything can be done with skilled fabrication. Here's another interesting hood adaptation, I forget where I found it:
