They sent you resistors which can be problematic in a 124.

Your spark plug wire has a resistance builty into the connector and the combo with a resistor plug can cause poor running.

Send them back and look for NGK BP5EFS or an equivalent Denso or Beru plug.

Non resistors getting difficult to find in the USA.
I buy the NGK's out of the UK because NGK Europe still makes the non resistors.

My friend with a VW GTI uses NGKs, he quite likes them. Not sure if he uses non-resistor or not but he prefers them to whatever VW had in his GTI stock.

Use what was specified...copper, non resistor ....it's the only type of plug that will give you the reliability and performance.

Everyone in the W124 section looks at the majority of the posts, don't get defensive, especially since we've already answered your questions directly or through older posts in a search. Try it.

W201, W124, W126, . . .
The M103 Engine is quite sensitive to wrong spark plugs. It will run on everyone, but best is the NGK BP6EFS. You don't do well to your car with using any type of iridium, platinium, gold or whatever plugs. Save your money, do good to your enginge and buy yust six BP6EFS for normal fuel and thats all you need.
For LPG, you can use a different one, if you need it, i will look into my list...

The "R" in the part number indicates "resistor".
The resistance in the plug confilcts with the resistance in the spark plug lead.
Best performance is always with the specified non resistor plug and OEM spec wires.

I've lived with a M103-12V since new almost thirty one years ago and speak from much experience.

Currently with a twin turbo I run NGK BP6EFS and pull 300lbft of torque on a dyno.

Why mess with success and German engineering of the most over engineered vehicle ever built by MB

w126 82 300SD / w201 93 190E 2.6
does anyone have a source online for these plugs? All I could pull up was the
BP6EF not the BP6EFS ... is there a difference? what does the S mean?

Thanks,

Kris
