Question Need Parts/Parts car

I have bought and am in the final steps of restoring a W124 300CE-24 and there are a few parts I'd like to know how to get a hold of.

I apologize in advance if this isn't the right forum, please redirect me if it's not.

I'd like to replace my car's:
  • Rear windscreen (seal issue - I believe it's a common problem, I've seen such issues on this forum. I'll post pictures tomorrow.)
  • Front Bumper (I'll post pictures - the skirting beneath the bumper has been severely damaged...)
  • First Aid kit (Missing entirely)
  • (Maybe) Warning Sign (Missing entirely, though I'm not sure if it came with one off of the lot anyway)
I'd appreciate any help. If any of you know of where I can get these parts relatively cheaply or have a parts car w/o an engine or broken down that you'd be willing to part out please let me know!

Marcel

You might try the classifieds section but some of the guys here may have leads on what you are looking for so it is probably good to post in both.

  • Rear windscreen - are you talking about the glass or the seal? Rear used glass is very hard to find and I expect new glass from the dealer is very expensive. Most coupe body parts from the windshield back are hard to source and more expensive. I've also heard removing rear glass without breaking it is very difficult.
  • Front Bumper (I'll post pictures - the skirting beneath the bumper has been severely damaged...) These are the same as sedans and can be obtained new from many body parts suppliers relatively inexpensive. You will need to repaint it.
  • First Aid kit (Missing entirely) Check eBay, I just sold one in a nylon zippered bag. Most are in plastic bags.
  • (Maybe) Warning Sign (Missing entirely, though I'm not sure if it came with one off of the lot anyway) This is a European option but some people who occasionally sell them in the classifieds.

Thanks, pifcat! This helps a lot. Well, to answer your question about the rear window - the seal has broken and moisture has gotten into the gap between the glass and the body, so I don't know what I'll need to replace. I have found a "rear window" for the sedan version for $170 USD but I am unsure whether it will fit my car. Obviously, if there is no need to replace the glass then you mustn't worry about it. You did say that the glass will likely break if removed, which is necessary to replace the seal, so I would need a new one anyway.

Thanks for the help

Alright, I've found:

Unpainted front bumper - $115
First Aid Kit - $8
Rear window* - $170

Can I do any better?

Cheers,
Marcel

*Is this even what I need? Do I need a seal too?

The sedan rear glass (actually all the coupe glass) does not interchange with the sedan. It's best to have a glass service replace the windows, they have special tools, techniques, and sealants. I've only needed side glass and was told they could not get them so replacements must be dealer sourced.

Don't forget the bumper strip too and the cost to ship large items if you're shopping online. I paid more to ship the strip than the part cost.
