W124 Coupe driver's door question

C124 has some SIGHT WINDOW on driver's door.
It's number is 124 727 00 13.
What is it used for?

The Mercedes dealer maintenance booklet slides in the door pocket slot and the latest dealer service stamp appears through the window ( i.e. 7.5K, 15K, ....90K mile service stamp )

I'll try to place the booklet there.
Thank you very much.
Nobody could answer my question.

That's great, it works
But there is another question. Why is this window made only in coupe and cabrio?

I can only guess that because the doors on the coupe and the cab are longer then the sedan which allows the room to install this feature ?

"okay guys, that's it. I think we've come up with the final design of the most over-engineered car of our time."

"well... No, never mind"

"Spit it out Friedrich, what's on your mind?"

"Okay, this might be taking it too far, but what if we made like a small window on the door, so you could see the service stamp every time you get out of the car?"

"That's stupi.... wait. Does it require any additional engineering to accomplish?"

"Yeah, a little..."

"Oh, well then it's a go. We shall christen this invention 'Part number 124 727 00 13'. Over-engineering is now complete! Great job guys, you can take the next 15 years off, we're letting the interns design the W210, W220, and W163"

I'm surprised they didn't put a mini sunvisor behind the mirror...

How about the kinda sort of "cup holders" on the glovebox door interior...

Very practical and Teutonic..for use only when the vehicle is parked

95 e320...sold the rest
You know, I almost wish they would come up with a new design for the rear head rests. Wouldn't it be awesome they were up, and you pressed a button and they fell down!?

LOL

1991 MB 300CE, 2007 MB CLK550, 2007 MB R500.
I don't have a glovebox either! Which models have them? I was under the impression that all w124's lack gloveboxes.

Early ones did as they didn't have a passenger airbag.
Later models had the console box instead...

I knew that, I was just being silly I do like the little window in the door. I usually keep my books in the door, I wonder if I could retrofit it to mine? Hmmmmmmmmmmm..... I could extend the over-engineering at home!
