Antenna power

Is there any way to check if my antenna is bad without going and buying the parts and just trying whatever? My dad's been driving the car for a while and all of a sudden the antenna doesn't have any power and wont go up/down when you flip the switch on the console. I changed the HU a couple of years ago and it always worked - now I dont get anything. Cant hear the motor either. Is there anyway to check to see if the power is getting directed correctly?

Thanks!

Do you have a stock deck? Well I used to have a stock deck until i switched out and about a week later I had the same problem just check the antenna wire that connects to your deck, make sure its wired good.Because when your car starts it should auto go up... try it out

No, its not the stock one. I changed the headunit a while ago - and I already checked the back to make sure the connection is still good. I can try to recheck it later in the week. Any other possible ideas?

After you check the fuse...

You can test for power at the antenna motor connector with a volt/ohm meter on the 20V, DC setting. Ground the black neg. lead to bare metal while testing for 12 volts at the motor connector with the red lead.

Of course the key and head unit must be powered up. Have an assistant switch it on and off while testing for power at the motor.
