The 'mintest' 500E ever!...If I only had the money.
(I don't know the owner, but dam, I wished I did!!)
Good luck to you bidders out there!

with the time value of the original 80k, inflation, and depreciation on the car, he took a hit, all to only drive the car 8k miles... great buy for the person who won it, but the guy who sold it wasted time and money by not driving that thing more often

lots of cars
Unless your a collector that car is only worth regular market value. Most people buy daily drivers and if they can buy a brand new car for 28k why would the buy this old car?

That bubbled instrument cluster face would throw a flag for me.
Engine shows some weird deposits for only having 8000 miles on it.

Ding Ding...we have a winner! You are exactly right about the seals getting roached over time. Most people would be googly-eyed by the low miles though...and then will get blind-sided by the nagging maintenance of "freshing" what is suppose to be a relatively "new" old car. The W124 was an amazingly well designed car, especially for the times, but vacuum lines, seals and wiring all age weather the car is being driven or not, and for those seals...well, not getting used assures that they will leak.

Don't know about "market" price but if this car was well maintained it will be a lot more fun and probably can be driven 150,000 with less spent on repairs than most new $30000 cars. There is a hard to describe feeling of driving a well engineered car, screwed together very well. Having said that, I would quess that if seals, motor mounts, bushings etc. have not been replaced, the car will require $2000-5000 to bring its ride and handling back to par. For me, I'd have to spend closer to $50,000 on a car to find one equally attractive.

That would be $21.5k to $23k.

Even in a temp controlled garage, the seals are still going to dry rot, shrink, gas will turn to turpentine. I am willing to bet if you were to make that car a daily it would cost you a bundle in repairs the first year. Doesn't look like the car has any cosmoline on it, did they stop that in 93'?

For a collector, this would have been a great deal - even if the car needs seals etc. I would be very jealous if this had been an 040 car & I'd missed it.
It's unlikely that we will ever see another collaboration between Mercedes & Porsche, so the E500E will always have a significant place in both company's history, which in turn = value.
