Mine is 300E 2.8 with aftermarket stereo with bypassed factory amps and fader.

to get the old stero of mine i ended up ripping the fascia off the front an jamming a tool in there to pull it out. i didnt have any of the removal keys to get it out. but normally you jus slide the keys into each side of the headunit an it should jus come out. or use a coat hanger an jam it down the side.

If you're talking about just getting the head unit out (the radio), then the tools that come with your new one will most probably remove the old one. They're just long pieces of thin metal shaped to do the job that insert on either side of the head unit and you just pull straight out. If you're talking about removing the speakers as well, then you will need some advice as to how to get the door panels out-pictorials/links in here for that.

My Benz is a '92 and the Becker radio was a radio/preamp and the amp was in the back. If yours is the same factory set-up, you'll need to be aware of that by using just the pre-amp out of your new radio or discontinuing the factory amp. I was told that the ohm rating of the factory speakers are somewhat nonstandard and so your new head unit may not drive them properly-if you choose to bypass your factory amp.

My ex took the car to a car stereo 'dealer/installer' with the purpose of getting a CD changer installed. The guy lied and told her there was no CD changer for that Becker and installed a cheesy head unit. Not only is the port in the back of the Becker for a changer, but the factory even had the data cord already in place for one. (I also heard that a Alpine changer would have worked fine in that scenario.) When I got the car back from her, I was all stoked that I could restore the original sound system. I had the Becker, but found out the 'dealer' had stolen the Benz amp. At that point, I replaced all the speakers with new and the head unit. Sounds great, but given all the work involved, I'm not sure that was a good trade off.

300E door panel removal

I am trying to remove the 2 front door panels on a 1993 300E so I can access the door speakers for an after market car stereo installation. I do not see any fasteners or pull plugs or anything that would lead me to believe there is any way to remove the panels other than just pry them off. I've exerted about as much pressure on the panel as I can but nothing seems to give way except for the very small panel at the top right that exposes the wires leading to the door mirror. Can someone please advise?

good site for this stuff

removal of trim on door to get at speakers -

speakers install -

the keys for removal of the head unit are pretty cheap - I got mine from evilbay for a couple bucks.

Is there a wireing diagram for hooking up a aftermarket headunit. My Becker unit went out last week and I want to hook up this kenwood. I understand that I need to use the preamp outputs in the new deck.
