electrical issues with w124 320CE
Hello there, i just got a 93 japanese spec 320CE with only 84k kms, but i found the intake cam actuator wiring are shorted, and wiring insulator skin and conector itself are hardened, carcked into small pieces, and falling off. Also the wiper motor keep blown fuses(15A red), and power windows and power seat only works when driver door is open.
Is there any body have samilair problems or have some hints? I worked on tons of GM and pre 2004 VW/AUDI vehcles, never seen such a wiring weathering problem before

You may need a new upper/lower wiring harness. Apparently, at some point, MB switched polymers for the coating in the harnesses which resulted in what you are describing. Get a new one, they revised materials and the problem should not happen again.

Here are some update: I taped up the naked hardness on intake cam actuator and MAF, no more rough idle. Seems like engine heat will kill the wire coating due to time.
