I'd start by checking the EHA o-rings. Just remove the air cleaner assembly, clean the EHA and start the car and see if it gets wet.
Wherever its leaking should be obvious if you can smell the gas outside the car.

Degrading hoses
I have the same problem.
I took my car to the local auto shop and they told me it's the leaking hose. To be more specific, it's the one hose that's connected from the fuel tank to the fuel pump.
You know w124 and their rubber hose problems. My car is having major hose issues; starting from my coolant hoses to electrical, to fuel hoses.
You might not see the dripping when you are parked, it's because there is a cover right underneath the hose that gathers the leaking fuel. That might be the smell that you might be smelling, the pool of fuel that's being gathered on the undercarriage cover.
I'm still looking for a website to look for the hose, I don't know a good place to shop. If you find a decent place for all those hoses, please post. I don't want to go to a Mercedes dealer for all those hoses.
