Sunroof Linkage

Sunroof Linkage
So my sunroof motor seems to be fine, I can still hear movement and do the rear tilted partial sunroof open option, but it won't roll back to open fully anymore. Dealer says it's the linkage and that will be about $800. Anyone here ever done that sort of repair and do you think a newb could pull it off with some instructions?
Thanks all,
Chris

I've never done it...but I heard its a pretty large job and a PIA, but DIY'able though. I may have to do some work on my 260E's as one side won't close after about a month of having the car.

ive done two sunroof overhauls on wagons, not sure how similar they are as the sunroof motor is mounted in the trunk on the driver's side and has a flex shaft connecting it to the sunroof, makes it easy to replace the motor (which almost never dies) and easy to make some signigicant adjsutments, but aside from the a real pain to do any work.
Let this be a lesson to everyone, keep your sunroof tracks and linakges well lubricated and clean.. a bit of grease goes a long way.
the links provided are useful, but i cant stress how careful you have to be with these parts as they were assembeled with no intention of being serviced, as an example that front wind deflector that pops up after all the years and miles develops hairline fracutres on the sides from constant stress, if you try to remove it by prying those two side rubber mounts it will fall apart, and without it off, you cant get to the screws holding the sunroof track on... just be very careful and patient, and take photos of every thing so you cna put it back on correctly
