door locks

I used to be able to lock the drivers side door and all the doors + trunk would lock, now whenever I lock the drivers side, none of the other doors lock, I have to do the trunk or passengers door to lock all of the doors.. same goes the other way around, if I unlock the drivers door, none of the others unlock, and if I lock or unlock the passenger side or trunk, all the doors except the drivers side door will lock/unlock..

I saw a switch on the cover under the steering wheel collum, thought that might have something to do it, because i hit the underside right before it started happening, but it won't do anything when I flip it.. anyone know what this is for?

this car is a 92 300E 2.6L btw

That switch sounds like an aftermarket alarm!

As far as the lock, you may have a vacuum leak or the lock mechanism in the door got disconnected.

Concerning the door lock problem MB4JH is right, it has to do with the vacuum lines either in the door ao in the vacuum unit under the rear seat driver side (GB)
The switch seems to be an alteration someone did. I never saw a switch located there originating from the factory.
