Faulty EGR Valve

My CEL is on again and it is showing code 17 - Oxygen Sensor. The thing is I've had my O2 sensor replaced twice in only about 300 miles (and at the cost of about $700, which included diagnostics and what not...don't get me started).

I pulled the EGR valve off last night and the lines aren't blocked with any deposits but the valve itself looks pretty worn and corroded. The valve doesn't budge at all (of course I'm not using a tester or anything).

My question is this, does it makes sense to anyone out there why the computer wouldn't show a code 16 for the EGR Valve if the EGR is bad? Also, will a bad EGR cause the O2 sensors to go bad prematurely?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm thinking of replacing my O2 sensor with a cheaper Mustang one and seeing if that fixes the light.
