Evaporator!!!

You are lucky to have no new issues. My AC stopped working and the car was blowing hot air. I already knew I had a leak at the compressor, but the charge held for almost a year. This time, they found the green dye leaking in a new place. It was the evaporator!!!

I am going to see how long the charge holds, before I ask my Indy to tackle that one.

geoshu,

Don't give up so quickly on german technology. A few years back I transitioned from Asian imports over to European (don't get me wrong I would still love to get a Lexus or Infiniti) I too owned a 99 A4 which I gave to my oldest and currently own 3 Benz's, of the three I must admit I love the smooth ride of the 93 300e (which is now my 17 year old's car), my C-class and CLK also ride great but not quite like the 300. W124 models to me are built like tanks and of course with age comes issues although I agree with Chinny4290 your transmission issue is an exception (must have been installed during Oktoberfest). Kidding aside, I'm sorry to hear your first experience with Mercedes was tainted but I hope you give you baby a second chance to redeem herself.

Lexus? aren't those overpriced Toyota's? I'd get a 335i or a C43 over an Lexus IS any day. The former is new, costs less than a new IS and is much faster and more powerful... the ladder is older, but still faster, more powerful and has an excellent reliability rating.

Ive taken S-Types, S-Classes, E-Classes, Porches, and Bimmers well over 100mph, the only one that Ive spun out in was a Lexus ES going around 75mph. WEAK!!!! I almost died!

Anywho... Why buy a Lexus when you can get the same thing in a Toyota for less??

Thanks man. First impressions are everything for me, and mine wasn't the best. I have only driven the car for just over 2000 miles now, so I guess I really haven't given it too much time to prove itself. Still, I loved my Audi and that car didn't know the definition of reliable, so maybe things will work out with this car.

Thats like saying, "why buy an Infiniti when you can get a Nissan?" I wasn't interested in an IS either, I would be getting an LS430 or a LX470. I'm never in a hurry to get anywhere, if I want to go over 100 I'll just take my motorcycle. And the the ES is the cheapest of the Lexus line, not really surprised it spun out, thats not a car to speed in.

Buy a high end Toyota, you don't even have to squint to see the resemblance to a Mercedes design. Where's the history or the design progression? The Lexus and most Asian designs will change on the whims of the fickle market or what can be duplicated with no relationship to the previous version. IMHO it's not worth the money for a generic car with no soul...
