How many gears your transmission has? One of mine it's the 5-gear transmission, and has the same problem. I dont' know what it's due to but the other car with 4-gear has not any problem.

I've been told that 5-gear trans. is electronic controlled (the 4-gear not) and I personally think this could be the problem (for example due to control unit or any sensor that fail), but I don't know what is exactly due to.

If anyone could help us..., please your opinions!!

cold shift delay

The cold shift delay is normal operating procedure. I read that the idea was to warm up the catalytic converter more quickly to reduce emissions. I hate it too, because the engine races until it finally shifts for the first time. I typically drive through neighborhoods at very low speed when I first start out in the morning, so it isn't too bad. After work, however, I need to get up to speed more quickly and it is a pain in the neck. I don't like to hear the motor racing at only 30 mph. At least it finally goes back to normal after the first shift.

Time for a new fresh oil and filter.

Both 4 gear and 5 gear Trannys has break band for 2 gear and Cluches for 3 gear.
When the oil is cold is much thicker and the only difference it make that tranny change gear harder but not slower

There's no such thing as Dex 4. I use any popular Dex 3/Mercon fluid available for my transmission.

thanks for that thread. i have a few questions though. did the amsoil really make a difference? also where could i get detailed instructions on changeing the transmission fluid? was 2 gallons enough to fill your transmission? does your 300te share the same transmission as my e320?

Do a search and the amsoil site will tell you exactly what you need. Yess it made a big difference in smoothness. The biggest thing is finding the right oil for your tranny witch wal mart wont car. The dextron arent the right oil. Amsoil does carry the right stuff. Redline does to. Also go onto autohauzAZ and get the seals you need its really easy.
