Removing my springs repair bushings
This was the hardest and scariest thing I have ever done. The te 4 matic has quite the heavy duty spring. I had 2 spring compressors and had to strap my large jack to the bottom of the control arm. Then I removed the ball joint and left the brake and half shaft hanging on the shock. Everything went well until the spring compressor slipped next to the other on and bent the tar out one. Got to go back to harbor freight to get another one to get the bent one off.
Any ideas on an easier solution to taking the other one out.
Good thing Im cutting the spring so itll be easier to get back in. The question is how much cause Im doing it once only. I thing of doing a coil and a half.
Also repairing the bushing on the lower control arm anything special i should know.
Thanks in advance.

You really should use the center Benz type spring compressor for safety! These are strong springs for typical compressors.
I was tempted to cut my rear springs since I have front Eibachs available but have decided on lowering all around with sport springs. People cut springs for the cost savings but shocks should be replaced and I believe you put them under more stress without the stronger shorter spring. Maybe the stock wagon springs are strong enough without a couple of coils, let me know how it works out.

Stay away from those cheap compressors, they don't work. If you don't use the MB specific compressor your better off just putting a jack under the control arm so its tensioned then once all of your arms are off (rears) just use another jack to jack the car up a bit and SLOWLY use the original jack under the control to lower it until the springs pop out. It sounds dangerous, and it is but I have done this front and rear over 3 times. I know you don't want to hear this but cutting your springs is the "poor mans" way out, it will achieve the look but not the performance of true lowering springs at high speeds. Make sure you do not use a high speed rotory cutting disk to cut them unless you have craploads of cutting oil to douse on it while you cut, taking the temper out will just compound an allready not so ideal situation. Just take a day and hacksaw your way through them.

Drive slow and with style then . Make sure you keep the coil cool! Even dump water on it after 10-20 seconds of cutting just to keep the de-tempering to a minimum.

Im pi$$ed I think I installed the wrong bushings for the control arm. The frint bushing is different than the back. The one I installed for the rear looks like the front. I thoght they were different cause they were a knock off brand. still shakes going down the road.Im just going to get 2 outa the junk yard. Waste of 70 bucks.
Cars not low enough might cut more coils off.

Yeah, front LCA (Lower control arm) bushings come in sets of two as the eccentric bolts on the front adjust the toe but more-so for camber alignment. The rears only have one bushing on the chassis end and its a lot cheaper than the front bushings. Sit back, relax, have a beer...you'll get it eventually .

Not sure if the autohausaz part # coincides with the MB part number, but thats the rear control arm bushing (Inner). Hope that helps some .
