Just bought this 95 E320 wagon and knew it was gonna need some work. First off we have a problem with the ignition, you turn the key and nothing! No ding, no power nothing. Any idea where we should start??

Do you have any power at all in the car? Lights? If not, start with battery.

I don't think so. I left last night and opened the door to find no dome light comes on. Gonna get out today and work on it so I'll see.

ok, so the battery was dead. There is an issue with the ignition though. Sometimes you turn the key and it does nothing. You have to turn it back and try again. The there is an issue of the "lamp out" light that comes on from time to time and the check engine light came on after regular fuel was added instead of Premium. (yea I know "cheap"). Oops.

Does the M104 have an engine knock sensor? I didn't know it did...I don't think that is the CEL problem.

Check all bulbs. Especially the rear side markers because they tend to lose their ground. It could also be the combination relay. My lamp out would not turn off until I resoldered the unit.

Great car you got there btw

Knock sensor?? I guess that would be something I need to look in the OM for?? As for the bulbs, I'll have to have hubby check them and see if they are loose or just corroded.

Your right, it's a nice car and we really want to get it running top notch and hang on to it for a long time.

Any Idea of what a good check up would cost??
