smoke from exhaust manifold!

W124 230E,W220 s350,toyota landcruiser.
smoke from exhaust manifold!

Hi everybody,


I have a w124 230E and noticed smoke smoke coming from the exhaust manifold(i think).what could have caused that??

It could be a leak from your exhaust.

I also think (I could be wrong here) that, because the smoke is on the exhaust side, there is seepage from your headgasket thats dripping oil onto your exhaust manifold. But that would cause a lot of smoke from just a few drops.

YOU need to clean your engine bay and take a look.

I second the headgasket thought. Mine was doing that and When I came to a light you would have thought I was driving a two cycle kawasaki.

it might be from running the wrong tire and wheel combination...the added friction can make gaskets fail

i'd have the valve cover gasket replaced first, then clean area up with simple green and see what happens
