Lower control 90 300E vs 94 E320

I need to know if there is any reason why I can't switch the lower control arms in my 94 E320 (with the unrepairable ball joints) to pre-93 lower control arms (with the repairable ball joints). I replaced the lower control arms (both) 2 years ago with a set of used 94's (salvage car only had 68000 Miles on it) and at the time had the earlier one in my hand. They look identical in every respect, except the ball joint. I suspect the switch in 94/95 W124 was a revenue generator created by some bean counter in Germany. Anyway, one of the used ones is now on it's way out and I would really like to put a more service friendly part in there. Anyone have any insight? Thanks

Hi: Do you mean by the newer component that the pre-94 lower control arm from a 300E can be used on the 94/94 E320? Thanks
Brian
