1400 posts???

You have made over 1400 posts here and I've seen your id elsewhere, your a long enough time enthusist to already know the answer to that question.

Do yourself a favor, wait for a real MB compressor to be resold in the forums and maybe ebay.

Think I've seen one making the rounds in the forums for around $150, do a forum search and see who bought one last, and PM them, they're probably done with it and will sell it to you...

Pepboys will return your money, don't even think of using it...

ebay here

or go to this thread in BW, read it completely, near the back is a poster who goes by the name "chowbow" who will rent you the good one. Also there is a youtube video at the end, make sure you watch it

Don't kill yourself or someone else with that pepboys tool, return it unused...

I appreciate your concern, but I am looking for someone who has used this style of compressor over "broscience" because it is non-MB. Used correctly with common sense and safety in place, (assuming it will work) I see no reason why there is any danger.

I will be testing it at the junkyard in the next few weeks to pull some springs for some light cutting so if I am not happy with the outcome, I still have mine. I am not looking to rent due to this as this process will take several weeks and I also have my 300TE to do, and my dad owns a 190D he may be interested in using it for also.

I have rented the same compressor from autozone and it definitely will not work. It's not even am issue of safety. It physically will not fit through the hole in the control arm to latch onto the spring. It will not fir between the coils either. There is no way around it other than a really bug pry bar, you need a plate style compressor. The shop I got mine from as in city of industry. It only cost me $165 and it works fine. Let me know if you want more info.

This is the info I needed. It was the last one they had on the shelf, hence why I nabbed it. I'll return it then.

i second rivcal.. i rented one when i wanted to change my spring pads and thought i could get away with this thing to squeeze the springs a bit. can't remember why it didn't work exactly, but i think it was also because it wouldn't fit into the spring properly... ended up buying one on ebay, and used it twice already. worth the investment!

lots of cars
Simple answer is, NO! Don't kill yourself dude. I've used that before and it'll work on the rear springs but NEVER try it on the front springs.

Had to argue for them to return it. PIA...FYI never buy tools that used to be rentals. Couldn't believe she was refusing it. I just happened to remember the guys name (Parts manager) that sold it to me, so I just made up he said I wouldn't have any problems returning it. With a grunt...she took it back.

Besides my riveting tale...If anybody see's a compressor in classifieds or anything and I don't spot it shoot me a PM
