88 300e thud/knock
hey guys, new to the forum here. Sold my 3 series BMW a while ago and bought a w124, and wow am i ever impressed never seen or felt such proper build quality. Anyway, when push down on the gas pedal or take my foot off i hear this thud sound coming from the rear of the car. It sounds like something is hitting the floor underneath the car. It only happens sometimes, and only on accel and decel. Any ideas? thanks.

Well first check your rubber exhaust hoses and make sure its not hitting anything.
Is it a "clunk"?...Sound metallic? It is probably your flex disks if you can blip the throttle (driving about 10-15mph) and replicate the clunking noise over and over. Very common and ALL 124's get it at some point. ~$80 part and can be done in 1-2hours tops. Not difficult, just fiddly. I'm about to do it on my 260E tomorrow actually.
