what should the engine be revving at when driving on the highway at about 60-70mph? i feel like my 300E isnt shifting into 4th gear. it revs at about 3500 when going 60-70.

For 300ce/300e figure about 200:1 RPM to MPH in gear 4 on a flat road.

93 300E 2.8
Our 89' 300SE does the same thing, so I guess the gear ratio was similar if not the same to the 86' 300E considering they both used the M103 engine.(Someone correct me if I'm wrong)

That's why I like later model 300E mine being the 93' with the M104 engine, and whatever transmission that came with it because the fourth gear is much longer so you can drive 80mph until it really starts revving beyond 3000rpm

It's normal. Can differ a little by model, but don't expect 2000rpm at anything over 50mph.
