300TD Automatic to Manual... help

300TD Automatic to Manual... help

i'm owner of a MB w124 300TD 1988.i want to change automatic transsmision to a manual gearbox which transsmision would u advice me.i think to change on 2.5 diesel engines gearbox for a better acceleration.sorry for my english... thanks

124 320ce amg widebody twin turbo, the nail
not sure if diesil will fit, but 16V 190e will fit as will all other 190 petrol gearboxes as well as 2.6 and any 124 manual, the flywheel is the problem, dont use the twin mass, if you give the car any stick, it WILL Snap.
16V 190 flywheel can be modded, 2.6 190 fits straight on, use 190 peddel box, propshaft is a pita and you may need to have one made.

i have done this to my 124, and wish i haddent. auto is better, with clutch std merc drive line parts brake very easily.

i'm still thinking that your "power" issue is the problem behind the driveline bits breaking.

true! i am ooking into getting nylon donuts made to replace the rubber ones, but the halfshafts will always be a weak point, i have seen comments from std power engines breaking them if the driver drops the clutch.
