New battery options?

I'll be putting a deck and subs in within the next week or so and I'm looking to upgrade my battery. I have a very poor one now, so it's gotta happen anyways. I've been looking in forums and what not and it hasn't helped to much. People seem to only suggest MB batteries from the dealer, but I can get other brands on discount. Does anyone have any NON MB brand battery suggestions? Also size and group? Group 49 if i'm not mistaken? Thanks for the input!

As for brand, no idea.

Go to Polar Battery on Boundary Rd, a block or two south of Parker.
They knew the exact size (group) and offered me a great deal for a battery for my 500E.

Don't let them sucker you into getting a 48 class battery. That is the MB recommended default, but a 49 will fit!

yea i've heard 49 is a way better fit and over all better for the w124. I'll definitely give polar battery a call, thanks for the heads up!

I had to switch my 48 out because the cold finally killed it. Let me tell you, my windows actuate faster and my locks cycle faster now. I was in fear of that I would have to repair every window and re-do my vacuum system to get these things working faster.

I'm glad to hear that. I was hoping a stronger battery would help those problems, now i know. I'll pick one up in a day or two and hopefully my car thanks me

I'm just saying it worked wonders for my. My group 48 battery was marked for expiry/replace in 2007, so I guess I was limping around on a crap battery for ages. Who knows, maybe it'll help your car get a bit of extra juice, but maybe not.

I'm also really interested in looking into a stronger alternator. Lights can still get a bit dim when I have multiples on (door open, headlights on, interior on, stereo on). I'm hoping a 120A alternator + this battery upgrade will give me a solid electric system I can rely upon when it drops far below 32F (0C) here like it does almost daily up until April :P
