300TE starting question...
I just had my 1988 300TE gone through mechanically with the following items replaced:
plugs
plug wires
all filters
all fluids
rotor
cap
injectors
all fuel lines
any distressed hose
oil & filter
tranny service
other things I can't remember...
Before these items it had a "slow" stumbling type of start that would sometimes require a second starting attempt, but always started.
After the "tune up" the "hard/stumbling" start is still there. Is there something I've missed that is causing this hard start?
It runs great and very smooth at any rpm and pulls much harder on the highway and around town. It starts cold so I'm assuming the "choke" is compensating for something lacking once it is warm. Also at idle the car will feel as though it is slightly shaking.
What am I missing? Fuel pump? Is there a fuel regulator?
Thank you!

I'm currently working on this with my 86 300E. THe problem is a very hard one to diagnose, even for a mechanic with your car in his shop.
Check out the Fuel Pump's, fuel pump relay's, OVP relay, your battery and as you said the choke. MY car was dieing randomly. I replaced the battery and the problem has gone away, but its kind of a quick fix because the car won't idle right when it is at a low RPM, so the mechanic set it to idle around 1100. After I spend some more money we'll get that back down to 800 and have the idle be perfect.
Good luck, theres my two cents!

Thanks chupper,
I have been told to also check the following:
1. fuel pump check valve
2. accumulator (I assume fuel, lol)
Maybe this could help you also.
Take care!

Hard start
Have the fuel pressure checked with a three-way valve between the supply-line and Fuel Distributor. This way you can pinpoint the problem to either the rear or the front. If it holds pressure in the rear, the leak is in the Fuel Distributor since you allready replaced the Injectors. In the rear its the Check-valve or Accumulator.
