Drink Holder Malfunction

The drink holder on my 2004 E320 fails to rise when I depress OPEN. It worked perfectly the last time I used it. Is this a DIY fix? I'm very mechanically inclined with basic instructions? If anyone out there has had this problem I would appreciate your suggestion(s).

wrong forum, man.
this is pre-cupholder land, where cars are built with one purpose... to be driven...
no time to sip on a starbucks when you're rounding a corner at 80mph, no need to sip on a dasani when the open road lies before you beckoning you to drive.... drive..... drivvvvve.....

cup holder is between my legs, so there is no margin for any coffee spillage, haha

w211 & w124
You can pull it out and then clean it up and put a tiny bit of grease on the parts that slide up. Common issue with the w211...

How does one pull it out when it is stuck in the down position? I don't want to get too aggressive and end up breaking it. Putting clear lithium grease would be a good suggestion. I appreciate your reply.

Are you talking about the w211 cupholder, or 2phasts?

if it's just a tiny part, you only use a tiny bit of grease.

OK I give up. What is the correct forum to address this problem?? I've only had this MB for three months so please cut me some slack and steer me in the right direction. Thanks.

This is the W124 section (1985-1995 E-Class) you might want to try the W211 section.
