Contemplating a swap

So I have been thinking about doing a swap in my 420 for a while now. The opportunity has presented itself to swap in a motor and tranny from a 500SL. I can get a deal on the motor and tranny and probably even the diff if I wanted it as well. Just wanted to find out a little more info on what else I would need to make this happen. I have the entire 500SL at my shop so taking random odds and ends wouldnt be a problem. Any suggestions?

My suggestion: Do it.

You have the strengthened front clip for the V8 already, so the added weight of the 500sl block (if it indeed even IS heavier) should be no issue.

Only snags I can think of would possibly be ECU/MAS/ECM/Fuel Pump. If you have the whole car though....

ya I knew I would definitely need the ecu and probably other minor electrical things. I'd like to find out if I could use my rear end or if i would also need the diff from the 500.

Overall, I think it would be a pretty cool swap especially if I have the SL at my disposal.
