E320 94' Splotchy patches rear window glass
Whats the cost and labor for replacing a windshield and or rear back window. The windshield has numerous dings and the rear window is splotchy.
Is this a factory window tint or something that was done at the dealership? The car has been maintained by the dealership.

Window tints today compared to 10 years ago are night and day when it comes to longevity. It was probably either factory, or put on soon after.
At the dealership, a new rear window is going to be big money (I expect $1000+)

I have a perfect rear window from a '95 E320.
You can have it for $100.
I really don't want to ship it, not sure if you ever come up towards NYC or know someone that does. I

Hey, my front and rear glass are splotchy as well. I went to Safelite and the technician and I talked for a bit. He said that the best bet was to use a very fine polishing compound on a wheel/buffer to try and smooth out the glass surface again.
I'm going to try it and see what happens

I'll try and let you know.
My rear window is spotted from acid rain and sap from pine trees in my yard. My front was fine until I mistakenly took Ultra Coarse Steelwool to it late one night before a 600mi drive. I thought it was my Ultra Fine steelwool and I would polish the micro-debris off the glass and get it clean so it would sheet the snow and rain off of it.
>_< Big surprise the next morning when I pulled out of the garage.
In any case, I'm not concerned about damaging the glass directly by buffing since the heating element is laminated between the inside/outside layer of the rear glass. I am however concerned about heating the glass too much and causing a crack to form.
