First Post & Story

So, a few years back I got this steel of a buy on a 1986 300e mercedes for $1,000 in VERY nice shape with only 87,000 miles (never have problems with it)

Build like a tank ehh? Oh yea well i deff found that out the hard way. I was driving down houston's HWY 59 going about 70ish mph. When the car in front of me changed lanes quickly to avoid a parked car sitting on the fast lane. Well this gave me about 2 seconds to change lanes although a van was blocking me from doing so....so....yea I hit an old chevy truck going about 70mph and it was at a dead stand still!!! Aftermath......

So I went to hospital with no broken bones and the doctor told me.."Son, how are you even here?" I showed him these pictures and he said ahhhh!! This car saved your life. Any other car and the front frame would have pushed in along with the dash crushing your legs. "Thank god for mercedes", he said.

I was so annoyed by the fact that a car saved my life. But seriously now I can't even call my mercedes a car. Its an automobile build to last, take care of it and it will take care of you. So the next day I went out to buy another one...HAHAA this new one is a 92 and in fantastic shape. Im doing some work on the outside body to make it look sleek so I'll probably be seeing you guys around asking lots of questions =)

Best $1000 car story going. Great Pics, good that you WERE in a Benz.

By the way, if you have not seen the 124 demo videos yet, check them:

It's a 4 part video which partially explains your survival.

Holy Moly!! So happy that you're ok. Did you do a repaint on the whole car or just the rocker covers?

Great story, great car. The older Benz models have always treated the owners well, good luck.

Yea i did the a total car paint. cost me about 3k for it but he gave me a lifetime warranty. The car had some pretty bad sun damage on top when i got it. Interior is the best ive seen on such a late model. Absolutly no tears or cracks on seats or wood grain.

I love car stories like this that show how well some cars can protect you. That's amazing! Glad you're ok. Were you able to salvage anything off your old car? (chrome rims, interior pieces, etc.) It would be great if you did so you'd could use them on your new one.

ya know this is probably my biggest regret. This accident so happened to be my first. When everything happened I was in such a panic that a wrecker towed it to some salvage. I acctually had to pay around 120 bucks just to see the car after everything. So all i did was take my school books out of the car and the car system it had. Although after seeing this video above, I really wish I would have just had it towed to my house and sold the parts it had. Everything was in excellent shape
