Front bumper assembly removal

The plastic painted (gray) air dam/bumper surround on my (black) 300D has a piece broken out of the bottom.

I am thinking of getting a replacement from a junk yard.

If anyone has done this, how complicated is the removal?

Also, do you happen to know if this piece is the same for all 124 models?

Also did Mercedes have more than one gray color for the bottom moulding pieces?

Many thanks,

Caleb

I've updated an older (pre-90) with the later bumper and it's pretty easy. The differences are the color and the chrome trim pieces under the headlights. They simply bolt with 13 or 14mm bolts up front and 10mm on the sides in the wheel wells IIRC. You also have to remove the temp sensor under the license plate and another 10mm in the front center under the grille. The later bumpers were color matched to the cladding but the gray was the most common. If your bumper is trash, break off a piece and take it with you to the yards to match.
