Then put in any other year- speakers sizes for the TE are the same from 1986 to 1995. They say 5" front and 4" rear, but spinlps has posted the actual sizes.

Spraying electric contact cleaner or whatever will not help in the Becker 1492. I learned its volume control is not a typical potentiometer style, but something else that is sealed from air. No spray will get in. As ronmiller said, the volume control on the 1492 is suspect, and Becker changed its design on later radios. Beckerautosound installs the new design control, which solves the eractic volume and intermittant loss of L or R.

Also, there are a few Becker 1492 radios on fleabay.

Next Steps

OK here is what I figured out

Front left, rear right were dead.
Front right is sounding not so good.
Rear left had become disconnected.

The stock headunit has been replaced with a unit I found on ebay.

I have ordered speakers to replace all 4 (infinity reference), at a fantastic price.

Next step is ipod...

This apparently attaches to the CD Changer cable in the back, but what can I add to this to terminate to the ipod? If possible I would like both an aux and native ipod cable so I can integrate a satellite radio.
