Replacement door lock tumbler/cylinder

Good morning.

My '93 300D is missing the driver's side lock tumbler/cylinder. The OEM part that will work with the original key is still available from Mercedes. The price quoted by Washington, D.C. area dealers is $80-90 if the car has no alarm and $280-300 if the car has an alarm.

My 300D has an alarm.

Does anyone know if the non-alarm tumbler/cylinder would work (i.e. would it lock and unlock the doors, but not arm the alarm)?

Thanks,

Caleb

Update...

So I took the plunge and ordered the replacement part ($317). The dealer told me that Mercedes will only sell the part that fits (alarm vs. non-alarm). So, I suppose the question of whether the non alarm piece would fit will remain a mystery.

So at any rate, the alarm still arms via the passenger side lock. Good thing. I parked in a Washington, D.C. garage and came out to the sound of "someone's" car alarm going off. It was mine. Perhaps an electrical gremlin or maybe the old 300D still shines enough to attract the wrong kind of attention.

Update...2

Picked up the part. My mechanic installed for $90. The dealer quoted over $500 to install. It works perfectly, uses the original key, and even came with a new key!
