W124 300D

I am student, and can´t afford better car. I am thinking about W124 300D with 300thous+ miles.
Please help me how to chceck the car the best. What are all the possible problems with a car with this milage, with automatic gearbox... how to chceg the gearbox the best and other parts.

1. see the oil color (pull the oil stick) clean/red is more trusted then brown/dark color
2. is the 300d already had harness? if it so, then u might check the harness wire
3. feel the engine when it started, is it the rpm up&down? or showing something unsual?

the miles is ok as long as the service always routine, mostly time to change the oil matic, i also had at that miles on my 230E manual at July 2008 with excellent 14 years service record at official garage mercedes in my town till now nothing hard to change the other part.

we're talking about used car, right? in my opinion, people might change the miles so the most important to see is the condition of the car
