W124 300D

I am student, and can´t afford better car. I am thinking about W124 300D with 300thous+ miles.
Please help me how to chceck the car the best. What are all the possible problems with a car with this milage, with automatic gearbox, year between 1987 -1990... Car looks great from outside and inside, but how to chcek the gearbox the best and other parts.

i don t know what you mean, maybe I wrote on some different forum, but I dont have any MB. I am just intend to buy one, cause I ve heard that this cars can lasts forever and do milion miles without problems. So thats I would like to get some really goodvices how to buy used MB w124 300D 1987 automatic with high milage. How to check all stuff, like gearbox, engine parts and all neccesary stuff.

You sound like another person on this forum who is a student.

A warning: these cars will last forever, but they must have been maintained properly. Repairs will be expensive.

I have no experience with Diesel, sorry.

Well I believe the transmission is a 722.3...At 300k miles you NEED some information about it. If it has never been rebuilt or replaced, you may be in for a new one next week. If it has been rebuilt or replaced in the last 100k miles, you may be okay. I don't know much about the engine "issues", but I hear its a million mile engine if maintained. This forum isn't too "diesel-savvy"....I would post on the peachparts.com diesel forum. You'll get very fast responses from tons of guys over there.
