e320 Cabriolet Wheels

Will a set of Front 7.5X17, offset 37mm, Rear 8.5X17, offset 30mm fit a '95 Cabriolet? After spending some time rooting around the forums I have been unable to find a definitive answer to this question. Some people say they will rub, some say that you can do it with undersized tires, etc. The infamous AMG fitment PDF for 8.5X17, ET30 wheels says that body modifications are required, however, there is a little footnote that says, "Due to the enlarged rear production wheelhouse inner panels, the use of an angled bracket as described in 4.1 is not necessary on model 124.061 (300CE-24 Cabrio)" which seems to imply that for the Cabriolet, the rears above will fit without surgery. Since the fronts are only 7.5", it seems they should fit also.

The wheels in question are from the W209 CLK55 (like the one in the picture). I have seen them on a Cabriolet and visually, they seem to protrude from the fender wells. I wasn't able to drive the car in question, so I don't know if they do indeed rub, etc. The tires fitted were the proper sizes for those wheels.

Given all of this, I though I would ask the question directly. Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,

- FD

I cannot give a definitive answer, either. However from the dimensions given and those of stock wheels, I'd say you've got to be really close. I would think that any rolling or flaring required would be minimal and easy to do.
For my car, I researched like you did, took a leap of faith, bought the wheels and then used spacers to clear my front calipers.

Good luck

You may want to input the data here http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp

This is one of the few calculators that has an input for offset. I am curious too since I am either looking to keep the stock rims or go to larger ones.
