1993 Mercedes 300E
![Question](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I have a 1993 300E with driver side power seat with 2 setting memory. For some reason the seat has a mind of its own and will intermittenly move itself wheather the car is on or not. I think it is an issue with the seat memory, but I'm not sure if it controlled by the seat switch or if there is a memory box somewhere else in the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well start with the seat switch as dirt and corrosion on the contact points can do very weird things...
Take it apart CAREFULLY (I cannot stress this enough) with a small screwdriver. There are LOTS of springs and ball bearings that will fly everywhere if you are too aggressive. Everything is very logical. Just remove it all, clean all the contacts and reassemble.
I've done it quite a few times on my wagon to fix the seats not going in X direction so let me know if you have any other Q's.

I have a new switch for it, but I'm thinking its more of a memory issue because the telescopic wheel moves on its own also. Thats why I was wondering what controls the memory.

I was going to add the memory feature to my 300e a while ago, and I seem to remember opting against it when I realized there was an additional module beneath the seat that was not easily interchangeable.
I believe it is what held the memory.

Ah yes if the wheel is moving backward/forward too the module is probably the culprit. x2 with Rivcal. I'd take it apart and resolder any bad connections before replacing it. It's free
How could it get any worse?
