Im trying to put my Alpine HU in my 94 e320 wagon. Got the wiring harness, plugged it all up and nothing happens, except the antenna goes up and down uncontrollably. I read up on some forums and read somehting like it doesnt get enough power so you have to unplug the cigar lighter and wire that to the radio or wiring harness or something not really clear on it. long story short (radio pulled out) I'm trying to get to the back of cigar lighter but unable to get there without forcing the ashtray out. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What Becker unit did you replace: BE1432? or BE1492?
If it was a BE1432 you may have a problem as this was a two piece unit.
The BE1492 would be a straight swap out for any Alpine head unit.
"Doesn't get enough power" doesn't make sense.
The head unit will draw the same amount of power up to the rating of the fuse on the circuit, regardless of where you get the 12VDC source.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
