WTB: Dead engine wiring harness

I posted this at the end of another thread on another topic so it may not have gotten noticed. I am looking for a late cabriolet (e.g., square thermostat plug) dead (even cut in places) engine wring harness. I want to do some forensic analysis to see why these cannot seem to be rebuilt. I have done many multi-port FI harnesses from scratch myself on other types of cars (mostly for systems of my own design) so I not sure why the MB harness represents such a challenge. So if anyone has an old one lying around that they would like to part with, post or PM me.

Thanks in advance,

- FD

ps - I'd go to a pick-a-part place and just get one, but they don't exist here in Mass. You Cali MB guys are lucky indeed.

Right? I've found precious few benzes in my local wrecking yard and I live in a rich town. Oh well :P

I see no reason why they cannot be re-wired. Will it work? Probably! Will it last? That is the question...Might fail out on you after a few days.

Most of the harness can be rebuilt. It is nothing special. Except a couple of the connectors. The coolant temp sensor plug is nearly impossible to take apart and be able to put it together again. The mass sensor is difficult to but can be done. The big problem is that wire alone is expensive and labor will completely blow the cost effectiveness. If you do it yourself it probably is cheaper.

Given the reasonable cost of a replacement, it's just not cost effective unless you are experienced, have the equipment, can test it, and just want to rebuild one for the joy.
