Wow, just saw those wheels!
Look very nice, and if they're 16ibs., that's awesome.
Good original alternative choice.

Month late, crappy iPhone pictures are better than no pictures at all, right? No? Well, too bad.
Almost forgot! Ive got a couple vids from outside the car on Jan. 8th! Looks like I was wrong Brett, they do let us do outboard cameras!

BBS RC Cast (soft) 17x8 - 16.4 lbs
BBS RC Cast (soft) 17x9 - 18.4 lbs
I have a set of these and weighed them on a precision refrigerant scale known to be accurate within ~1%. Actual weight varied from 20.3 to 20.8 lbs each including the half-lb center cap. That's radically different than the numbers posted in that list. Note that the data appears to have come from wheelweights.net, which also has the same accuracy problem, as many of the numbers shown are reported by people not using accurate scales (i.e., using bathroom scales or something else equally silly). They still list the forged "CLK230" wheels (typo - actually CLK320) as 12.9 lbs each, actual weight is 14.10-14.50 depending on the particular set (weight varies a bit).
I'd trust manufacturer's website specs a bit more.

Dave, I agree completely. I don't have an accurate scale, so I cannot give the exact weight. I got them from a friend locally and for only $250! They do need a little work, but I'm just trying them on for now.
Brett, knowing the GTI community, your friend probably had ZERO sidewall and a 3" stretch :-p

Take that with a grain of salt, but he warned me against buying a set when I told him I was interested in them. If you've got them & are happy, then good You also have some more rubber on it & likely have much better roads than we do out here, so I think you'll be fine.

Don't trust the numbers you see on lists like that to always be accurate. Example - they show the BBS RC as:
BBS RC Cast (soft) 17x8 - 16.4 lbs
BBS RC Cast (soft) 17x9 - 18.4 lbs

your info that some of those numbers are wrong, and the wheels listed are actually heavier, my wheels are even better

Sure thing man! I'm just sorry you couldn't join in and make the group buy.
I don't know if it's worth it to you, but if you make it down on the 18th to fontana, you can race your own car, and get a ride in mine. There should be a pretty good turn out for once. Myself, 400eric, my buddy in his c36, another buddy in his e420, kyle in his 500e, and a couple maybe's: szvook and jano.

Your car looks really good and performance are also impressive.
Did you do something more in your car than install Bergwerks Nitro System?
Very nice videos.
Congrats,
Tom

Thank you for your first post EssiRsS and welcome to the forum. The only go-fast mod I have on the car is the Bergwerks system. That is not my only mod though. Among them are Silver Arrow brakes, H&R springs, OZ Superleggera wheels in 17x8, and a few small interior changes.

Developed a valve tick recently, so I haven't driven the car. Got the valve cover off, all looked fine. Decided to check the bottom end to see if I had any timing chain rail pieces sitting around down there and this is what I found:
This is what was in the pan when I dropped it:
And this was all wedged inside my oil pump pickup against the filtering screen COMPLETELY RESTRICTING THE FLOW OF OIL! I had to pull out the pieces by hand:
I was able to put some of the pieces together and extract a part number from the pieces jammed in the pump, which revealed it to be 119-052-11-16 - Guide Rail.
My next plan of action will be to replace all upper rails, check drain-back valve, replace valve cover gaskets and lower pan gasket. I will post a parts list for anyone to add to as soon as I find out if that DB valve needs replacing.
Hopefully I'll be back on the road soon and ready to rack up some more kills for the w124 crowd!

Old plastic is a bad thing, it so good that you checked this, I have seen it before on MB. BMW and others. The guys that don't catch it are the ones you hear about losing a motor.

Thanks man, no big deal though. I did not drive the car for long with the ticking, so I'm sure no real damage was done. Just a matter or replacing the rails and oil. In the process, I think I may be able to get away with getting some other goodies done.

Possibly swapping lifters for the newer-lighter ones from 93+ m119. Dave has this theory that the lighter weight is worth a few HP up top. Also I will have to pull the PS pump, so that leaky hose can finally be replaced, and the pump can be resealed if needed.
And a secret mod that I don't want to post until I actually do it. Still haven't committed.
