1995 E320 Cabriolet "asking price"
Hi all,
I'm thinking about selling this 82k mi. 1995 E320 Cab.
As most of you enthusiasts know, it was a limited edition hand-built $80k car...soon to be classic. I've owned the for past 3 yrs as the 3rd owner...put on about 5k miles.
Almost all work done at MB dealers, the top looks new and the interior looks clean. The car is probably an 9 out of 10, especially with a good detail.
Since there are not too many around, and I'm curious what you guys suggest for "asking price." Thx in advance.

Depending on motivation to sell...imo
$9500-$16000
Take a gander at ebay for some depressing news...or exciting news if you are a fan and want to buy one.

I'd say if it's really good - 10. If it's really good and you're really lucky - 12. If it's really good and you're anxious to sell quickly - 8-9. There is really big buy - sell gap these days, that is lots of high priced cars on the market but not selling. Theorectically they are rare - but it seems like they are for sale everywhere. In any case good luck with it.

Limited edition? Where did you hear that? They made 30,000+ cabbys...maybe 6000 are in the USA over the 3 years.
Great car btw and I bet you would get top dollar (13-15 grand) if you sold it thru the Mercedes Club or website....they will be classics (some think they already are)
Any pre-96' MB with under 100K is a great buy.
But true, the market sux for sellers today. Although I sold my cab with 42K on it for 23.5K...boy, was I lucky.

They weren't 'entirely' hand-built but were mostly put together by people, not robots. W124s, 126s, 140s, 201s & 202s were the last of the MB cars to be mass produced with 'people' actually doing most of the work. Of course, for many years prior robots did much of the chassis and frame welding and panel production. Doesn't apply today to things like the Maybach, G-wagen, SLR, SLS etc though which are very limited production items and truly more 'hand-built'.
Cabs are special in that they were sent to the Karmann factory for the tops...the old Karmann coackwerks did many of the tops and bodies for several manufacturers for many, many years, by hand. I think they shut down the factory recently too, maybe a year or 2 ago...signifying the end of a special era in car building in Germany.
I have a cool shot of the VW Mk1 Sciroccos being built by old ladys at the Karmann factory in the mid-1970s !
Hilarious to see a chubby old lady grinding down on a pillar weld. One of the more famous cars out of Germany were the old VW Beetle Cabs...look for the black Karmann Coachwerks badge on front lower fenders.
