Gap in center of Dash
Hi everyone,
I have recently noticed that my center console doesn't fit quite as it should.
Here is a picture:
How would fix this to fit properly?
And how did this come to be? The only thing I can think of is maybe the installation of the rear electric curtain, however this was a factory fitted option, and when the car was bought it was special ordered in the desired color combo etc.
Any help is appreciated

from the pic the wood looks bent, someone must have tried to pry it off at some point in its history for some reason...
if the wood is bent, i think you might have to see if a woodworking pro could fix it, or ebay a new piece altogether

If I had to guess (it's hard to tell in from a picture - no ability to touch/bend/probe) I would say that the issue is the vinyl side piece on the console is deformed rather than the wood (although there is a depression in it, but I don't think that is what you are asking about). Two reasons come to mind for that - either old age has dried out the vinyl causing to to shrink back onto the reinforcing structure inside or, when the deck was replaced with the in-dash CD deck, the wiring harness was trapped between the chassis and the inside of the console side wall, pushing it outward. Because the MB DIN chassis radios slide in until they lock, installers tend to push as hard as necessary to get them in and locked rather than make sure the wiring is properly dressed behind the head unit. I've seen all sorts of things crushed as a result.

I took a closer look, and there is no warping even though the picture may show something similar.
The panel basically seems to sit out further than it should. I can press it in and the gap goes away, but the panel comes back out once I let go. How is it meant to be secured in place?
