Quick lug question, 17"x7.5" ET35 Monoblock II on 300E
Hello,
I recently purchased a set of 4x 17"x7.5" ET35 AMG Monoblock II wheels for my W124 300E.
From the "Running Gear Thread", I know that these will fit the car fine without any modifications needed... I might also be the only person on this forum without a lowered W124.![Newbie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/newbie.gif)
So, for those of you that have fitted these specific wheels to your 300E or 400E, did you use the stock lugs or did you have to purchase a new set.
If you did, please tell me the specs of the lugs you needed.
(I plan on using radusa.com if needed.)
Thank You!

Thank you both!
I took off a wheel and measured the length of thread protrusion for the stock wheel and the Monoblock II, they were within 1mm of each other. Then I just took rough estimates of the ball seat sizes of both wheels and they seem to be an exact match.
I will have to order new lugs anyways as mine have surface rust all over the bolt surfaces. Then off to my local trusty Discount Tire for a new set Yokohomas that have good reviews and are in stock.![word](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/werd.gif)
Again, thank you!

I got them off of eBay.
Seller offered as what he described were front wheels off C class cars. I assumed they were C36 AMGs since they were ET35, 17"x7.5". They may be replicas though... I need to double check the rear face of the wheels. All I remember from when I saw them was that they said something like...
"17J x 7 1/2" and "Made in Belgium"
Link to auction:

I bid at $699 on a whim, thought I was going to loose since they seemed nice from the pictures and also thought that they were worth more... Though I may have overpaid for these wheels, especially if they turn out to be replicas.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
To tell you the truth, I already have 4x 16"x7" CLK wheels that I was going to use before I ended up with this set. Those are now for sale locally in the DFW, TX area.
In the CLK vs Monoblock II debate, I guess I made the decision with my eyes, not my brain. The 16" wheels will do the most to improve the ride quality (17lbs each), the tires are cheaper, and the ride will be less harsh with the 16" wheels than the 17" wheels, but once I held up the Monoblock to the front left tire... I was like...
DAMN, that looks nice!

Just browsing eBay and there appear to be lots of sellers selling 1x 17"x7.5" ET35 Monoblock II wheel in the range of $225 to $275 in great visual condition. So you could build a set like that. $900 to $1100.
Alternatively but more risky:
$110, 17x7.5, but no picture of the actual wheel available.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/95-96...item3a5eb43c91
$95, 17x8.5, but no picture.

$95, 17x8.5, but no picture.

$120, 17x7.5, the polished lip is beat to hell, but the painted surface looks fine, with some 400-800-1600 grit sandpaper + water, you could fix the lip yourself.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...item1c1421cad5
So you could potentially have a decent set built from single wheels for $420. Hehe, then you could buy some weed and smoke away your savings!![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
Though... 8.5 MAY be too wide for the rear of a W124.

Wheels are real, they have a HWA number. Ya done good.
The HWA number is an AMG part number.
I'm running 8,5X17 (235/45/17) on the back of the E320T with no problems.
Check out Dave's (AMGDave) seriously excellent site, "W124 Performance", for links to the factory recomendations and procedure as to how to modify the body for various size wheels.
I seem to recall that you "might" need to roll the fender lip ever so slightly. I didn't and have had no problems.
Kind Regards

Sweet!
I ordered a new set of stock lugs as my old lugs were developing surface rust. The new set came in yesterday and today I had the Monoblocks installed with Yokohoma S.Drive 225/45/R17 tires.
I was initially going to go with 215/45/R17 tires to eliminate any chances of rubbing, but the store manager talked me into the 225/45/R17 size and sold them to me for the 215 size price. The 215 size would have given an acceptable 1.7% speedometer error, but the 225s are a dead on match for the 195/65/R15 size, a.k.a. 0% error.
Ride quality is not as bad as I thought it would be, by going to plus 2 size larger diameter wheels. In fact, I prefer it to the old ride, but I still need to get the Bilstein heavy duty struts and shocks installed. There are no plans to lower the car, but there is a need to refresh aging suspension bits.
The car looks SO much better now, these wheels fill the fenders well.
I have fallen in love with my 300E again.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Used stock lugs with 17" mono's with same size tire. No lowering on my car, all stock. Sorry didn't have a straight side shot.
Cheers.
