Is it worth it?
So I just picked up a set of 18in monoblocks with brand new falken tires on them. I have been looking for a set of these for a while now I figured the tires alone are worth 2 to 3 times more than what I paid. The rims are rashed really bad and I was just wondering if it would be worth it to refurbish them. They look true and round but who knows. Assuming they aren't bent im leaning towards redoing them. Also, what would it take for me to make these fit. They are 225/40 and my 420 is lowered on h&rs. heres a couple pics

Going with 18" monos will look good! I have been quoted between $125 to $150 per wheel to refinish mercedes rims. Not sure about straightening them but probably additional cost. There are a couple posts out there for a DIY refinish job. For a few hours of elbow grease you could make them look pretty good also.

What is the offset and width of them AMG rims?
On a W124 you can't really go wider than 8" rims in front or back (except for 500Es)..... you might get an 8.5" in the rears with the right offset and a fender roll...just sayin'
$100 each gets them completely re-done here in CT.... those look to need a professional to fix too. yikes.

the back of the rims say ET47 which i know is the offset. Havent gotten my knowledge down yet of my offsets, im assuming that et47 is too big of an offset but any insight is appreciated.

That being said, I'm not sure if that is too much.

You can get
a whole set in top shape for less than the cost of refinish.
Cut the loss and shop around.
A 47et is going to pull the rim in towards the suspension And you will have issues lowered or not.
You want to be around 35et I think on an 8
measure twice install once

47 will work. You may want 2-5mm spacers to push them out and full the fenders. If you got a good price on them, by all means, hit them with some sand paper! Some people are just natural born pessimists.
Buy a can of K2 paint stripping gel, the kind that works on polyurethane. Apply it to the lips, let it sit 15 minutes, wipe it off. Then start out with ~200 grit until you get any major imperfections out, follow up with 400> 600> 800 wetsand> 1000 wet> 1500 wet> 2000 wet, and finally a nice compound polish. Shouldn't take more than an hour per wheel of actual sanding. I've done it to about 4 sets of wheels now, and have been satisfied with the results every time. Sorry I don't have any photos.

Thanks rivcal.
I did a set for my a4 and they came out well. Why would I spend $400-$500 more on a set in better condition when all these need is some elbow grease. I wish I could just throw crazy money at my car but my budget just isnt cut out for that.

ps2cho had a thread of his wheel refurbishment before he left here.
My only concern would be the missing chips but maybe their not too noticeable once you sand the lips.
I appreciate budgets but I wouldn't call it crazy money to invest in wheels at least to look for structural or out of round flaws. It's the high labor costs and parts markup that make mechanical or aesthetic maintenance "crazy". DIY helps if you have the motivation so that's where to look for value...
