Looks pretty good because you have a wagon with that much more "car" to look at than a sedan. W124 Sedan those would look silly on.

1994 E320 Coupe
I was able to troubleshoot the humming noise coming from the front left wheel. It was the brake dust plate rubbing against the inside of the rotor. It was adjusted and now my W124 coupe runs well. I had to get an alignment a few weeks ago due to the new suspension, wheels and tires. It's riding really well with minor tire rubbing when I hit some dips. The engine is running really well too. Next project will be upgrading the entertainment system.

A 300D sitting in a showroom since August 2000 (!)
This would be my dreamcar: a 1992 300D, 284k (170k in Miles) all original in a great color, no rust, seems to have the sportline interior. Only major options are ABS, 4-speed auto and a sunroof. No A/C. Engine bay is just dusty. Nothing can break on this and it will go on forever! Has been sitting in their showroom since late 2000 !!!
I would buy this in a snap, only the wife refuses to even sit in it

The other thing is why your wife doesn't fancy proper Mercedes? You have to explain and let her drive... after one day she might change her mind! Use your skills to explain the real added value to your happiness and to the family
