Bought for $2700 from the first owner, a retired physician. Has just under 140,000 miles, and the only problems I have are an erratic cruise control and a flaky fuel gauge sending unit. I get around 30 mpg average, which is slightly better than the mileage on my departed SLK. I'm looking to upgrade the suspension to a sportier feel. Any suggestions from the forum?
I'm in Boca Raton, Florida, and this is only my fourth Benz, the first being a 1961 190 that cost me $600 back in 1970.
Haven't been much here lately, so just popping in to let you know I am still around and my Benz is still alive even if there has not been any updates lately. The Benz is still the same, and is being taken very good care of.
I will start feeding you all with updates again as soon as I get myself a garage with working space a little bit closer to home, as pr today the car is on storage some distance away from where I live so I can't work on it much as things are right now..
But this build is still not complete as far as I have decided, so this work needs to be pulled back on track ASAP.
Brilliant and extremely long running thread! The bad part of it is that so many of the pics in the older threads have disappeared which make the experience somewhat less enjoyable.
Nevertheless extremely interesting to see the variations on the W124 theme!
First time ever I got excited about a W124 (or any four door Mercedes) in red. Guess the red on red, which I would have expected would be too much, is exactly what does it.
Is it though a standard MB colour? Which one - name and code?
Hello, this is my 1987 260E. These are not the latest photos. I changed the wheels with 15 spoke 15" MB wheels. It is rainy these days and I am waiting the sun for a new photo session.
