Shrewz - Nice work on the stereo and outlets! How/where did you get the trim? Any details you could share would be helpful. I have factory stereo that needs replacing and I would like to put something like this is in.

well when i bought it had an aftermarket stero that didnt have a faceplate so i had to replace it, i wanted a nav unit since the dash only houses a single din stero i had to remove all the panels and grind and remove all the struture inside so that the pioneer unit would fit and it barley does you have to pull on the sides of the dash so it will go in and i fabbed up a steel bracket underneath the radio to hold it up

As for the trim i cut out templets of cardboard around the radio and coated them with fiberglass and resin then painted the pieces i did the same for the panel under the radio i just went down to local electronics store and bought the duel cigarette lighter plugs

but wiring that thing was such a pain you have to tap into your speed sensor, your hand break sensor and much more and i had to run wire to the back for back up camera but it was all worth it it sounds great i have to take some more pictures but i custom built a 12 in sub bux that sits in the back between the rear seats and the glass (cause i didnt wanna loose any truck space) and replaced the stock dash speakers

also one big issue i encountered is there is a air bag controll module that is housed in the dash right under where radio is currently thats y it sits farther out of the dash then stock, the unit can not be moved or messed with it made it extremely difficult to tuck the wiring back

just make sure when you pull out the radio check for that before you start cutting things up to fit the double din radio

Very impressive! I figured that you put a lot of work in here. I think you just talked me out of the project. Better to know one's limits that screw up! Thanks again.

It's tight fit, but if you keep the deck up to the top of the cavity you can get it in there and back quite a ways. If you take on of the side panels off you can manipulate the wires even further.
Here pic of the install in my cabrio

I've been dormant for awhile, in search of a C36. Anyhow, here are some of the last shots before I start parting her cosmetics out.

Oh no!

Nice pics. Car looks fantastic!

Is this because of the head gasket, missing cylinder, problems?

Noo way!! I've debated about selling her, but with the resale value in mind it would hardly be worth the effort of posting an ad. I'm just at the point in my life where I really want something a bit newer with a bit of thrill, AMG more than fills that niche. I plan on keeping both if I can afford it, however, I might end up selling the cosmetic stuff like the lowering springs, rims, camber arms etc. for some extra cash torwards the C36 purchase. It all depends on how quickly things happen. I love my W124 way too much, even with all of the problems it throws at me weekly! All I have to do is take it for a drive on the freeway and cruise, all my complaints go away..........

My advice is keep all the cosmetic stuff and save up until you can afford the AMG you need without having to sacrifice things. If you sell it all off, you won't have as much pride in the car, nor will it look as awesome

Find a local junkyard and get that bumper swapped out! $40 and 20mins of your time.

I agree with above/\/\/\/\ The car will not be the same, and you might only realize a $1,000

Not worth it. Besides, it would be a shame - may inspire others to keep more 124's on the road - or even this one, if you sell it!

I understand though, a C-36 would be fun and you need to purchase a good one.

Nest of lick.

The main reason I pulled the springs out was because of the extra cost of having to roll the fenders after getting it aligned properly to compensate for the negative camber. Not only that but around here shops absolutely refuse to align my car because it is lowered, only one specialty shop said they could do it as they do custom setups for the lime rock racers in Kent, CT. Even at that, the quote was more than the springs cost me. Ride quality suffered dramatically due to it being so low (even with the bilstien HD's) and the big heavy 17's. The roads are absolutely horrendous where I live and potholes are common. A while ago, on my way home from school I hit one and my shock tower mount failed. The shock popped right through the my hood! Lastly I really don't think keeping her low would have been a wise move with these New England winters, I'll be needing to hop over banks left from the plow etc. Right now I need practicality, at least through the winter and until I get another car. I really don't need to sell anything off so I may just hold onto the stuff we'll see. However, even after driving it stock now for about 2 weeks I really do miss the looks and the respect I used to get on the road. Before I would RARELY ever get someone flying past me now I feel like every other car on the road

No worries, shes not going anywhere. I may end up restoring the look when summer comes around but I'll need to bite the alignment bill bullet when that happens. C36 will be a perfect crossover even for a W124 purist like me, its got a bored M104 and a 4 speed transmission that the 500E uses.

I sure did! I looked flawless until last winter rolled around . Cold brittle plastic and snow banks = failure! I'll have to keep my eyes open for a new one at the junkyards here. The junkies here are nothing like the W124 heavens in CA, I've seen maybe 2 W124s in the past year here and one was a 300D. Thanks for the kind words guys!! You've all convinced me to hold onto everything, looking forward to a nice dual shot of the lowered 300E and C36 side by side , I bet they will look strikingly similar!

Yep it does...Its because of the new bilstein shocks. Car will be dropped once I get a set of springs at the junkyard to cut. Can't wait trust me!

Updated look for son's 93 300E

Here's a couple updated pictures of my son's 93 300E. He decided that the classic look real wasn't him, So I got him these Euro lights and shinny chrome wheels.

Now he doesn't feel like he's driviing his old mans car!
